Donating a classic car is a heartfelt way to contribute to the community while keeping automotive history alive. Many classic car enthusiasts in San Francisco have cherished their vintage vehicles for decades, often sharing stories of adventures and cherished memories behind the wheel. Every time a donor chooses to part with a beloved classic, it symbolizes not just the transfer of ownership but an opportunity to support causes that matter.
At AutoBay Alliance, we appreciate the unique stories that classic cars carry. Whether it’s a 1967 Ford Mustang or a 1970 Plymouth Cuda, each car has its own journey, and we strive to honor that history by ensuring these vehicles find new homes where they’ll be valued and appreciated. Your donation helps fund essential community programs while giving your treasured vehicle a chance to shine once again.

How pickup works
Our vehicle pickup process is designed to be seamless and respectful of your classic car’s unique needs. For high-value donations, we strongly prefer using an enclosed transport trailer to ensure your vehicle is protected during transit. Our professional team will coordinate with you to set a convenient pickup time, whether it’s at your home or a secured storage lot. We verify the VIN and, depending on the vehicle’s value and condition, arrange for the necessary paperwork to be completed on-site.
What drives donation value
The value of your classic car donation is influenced by several key factors. Appraisals typically start at $5,000, with higher values attributed to documented provenance and original drivetrain components. Matching-numbers vehicles, often seen as investment-grade classics, command a premium in the collector market. Notably, condition and historical relevance, including barn find status or the appeal of original patina, can significantly affect your car’s appraisal. Be sure to consult a qualified appraiser and complete IRS Form 8283 Section B as this is mandatory for your donation.

San Francisco specifics
In California, vehicle donations adhere to specific DMV regulations. Make sure your classic car is titled in your name to avoid any complications during the donation process. Vehicles that are state-titled may require additional documentation if they haven’t been registered for a long time. We can guide you through the necessary steps to ensure your donation meets all legal requirements while capturing the true spirit of your classic car.
