Living in the vibrant city of San Francisco, many residents find joy in exploring the great outdoors with their RVs and motorhomes. However, as life evolves, so may your travel habits, leading to the decision to donate a vehicle that no longer fits your lifestyle. Whether it’s a Class A Fleetwood or a cozy pop-up camper, your donation can make a powerful impact.
Behind every RV donation is a unique story. Perhaps you enjoyed countless road trips along the California coastline, or your motorhome served as a temporary home during a life transition. How pickup works
Pickup for your RV or motorhome is designed to be as seamless as possible. Our specialized team will coordinate a pickup time that suits you. Typically, we utilize flatbed transport for larger models and drive-away services for those that are roadworthy. If your vehicle is stored at an RV park or storage facility, we’ll liaise with them to ensure a smooth pickup. Consideration of vehicle length and height is crucial, as most states limit clearances to 13’6”. Your cooperation will guarantee a hassle-free transition from donation to impact.
What drives donation value
The value of your donated RV or motorhome is influenced by several key factors. The condition of house systems, such as the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning, tends to drive value more than drivetrain conditions. Notably, water damage can significantly devalue your vehicle, so transparent disclosure is essential. Recent maintenance records can bolster your vehicle's worth, especially leading up to the peak donation season in spring. Finally, appraisals are commonly required for Class A vehicles, specifically to comply with IRS Form 8283 Section B for your tax deductions.
Documentation you need
- Current vehicle title
- Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) for off-road vehicles
- Recent service records
- Appraisal for classic RVs or motorhomes
San Francisco specifics
In San Francisco and throughout California, RV and motorhome donations are subject to specific DMV regulations. It’s crucial to ensure your vehicle is properly titled, as California requires state-titled documents for transfers. For vehicles with a bill of sale, additional verification may be needed for tax deductions. Our team will help guide you through the paperwork to ensure compliance with local laws, allowing you to focus on the impact of your donation.
